Alicia Cooked Sarawak Laksa

The Main Ingredient

Prepare Chicken Stock

Prepare Prawns

The product

Some time ago, I made Sarawak Laksa for the first time.

Ingredients needed are:
1. Sarawak Laksa paste
2. A can of evaporated milk or adequate coconut milk
3. Bean Sprouts
4. Eggs (to be scrambled, fried and then cut into pieces)
5. Rice Vermicelli
6. Chicken breast meat and bones
7. Prawns
8. Assam Keping (Sliced Tamarind? - not too sure of what is it called in English)
8. Salt

Steps to prepare the soup:
1. Prepare chicken stock. Boil water and put in chicken bones and meat. Set aside the cooked chicken and shred the meat. However, leave the bones in the soup.
2. Boil prawns with it's shells in the stock. Once prawns is cooked, put aside.
3. Pour Sarawak Laksa paste into the boiled chicken stock. Stir and let it boil for a while. Take out another pot and use a drainer (I don't know what is it called) to separate the herbs and spices from the soup.
4. Clear soup is then boiled and added with a few slices of assam keping and evaporated milk/coconut milk.
5. Lastly, add salt to taste.

Laksa:
1. Clean dried vermicelli and boil it in water till it's cooked.
2. Drain boiled water from the vermicelli and put the vermicelli into a bowl
3. Clean bean sprouts and boil it in water till it's cooked. Set aside the bean sprouts.
4. Garnish cooked vermicelli with sliced scrambled eggs, boiled bean sprouts, shredded chicken and prawns.
5. Pour laksa soup or gravy onto it and it's ready to be served.

My Fried Rice

Fried Rice

Fried rice is kinda basic to me. I've tried various style like putting egg directly, fry the egg first, making it darker by putting black soy sauce, using butter instead of oil and etc.

There are even many types of fried rice. There are kampung (village) fried rice, sambal fried rice and many more. My style? Seriously I don't know. I put just whatever that I feel will make the rice aromatic and tasty.

Ingredients for today's fried rice:
1. a few prawns,
2. some small cubes of lean chicken meat,
3. plenty of garlic,
4. soy sauce,
5. abalone sauce,
6. an egg (scrambled),
7. some mixed vegetables,
8. oil,
9. salt and
10. pepper.

Simple ingredients and yet making it nice.

Tech post - Javascript : Options List

One of the common problems when dealing with 2 different windows in Javascript is updating new values to be displayed on the parent window.

Parent window is the root window which user click and produce a popup window, called "child".

My solution for updating lists concurrently in 2 different windows via selection from a popup window can be seen from the images below.

Consider that your "select" object name is "objectName" and name of the parent form is parentForm. Sample HTML with one existing option in the list:
<select id="parentForm:objectName" name="parentForm:objectName" multiple="multiple" size="10"><option value="123*">[1]-123*</option></select>

To add a new option into the list from a popup window to the parentForm, any of the solutions can be used:

Solution1:
Solution2:

ps: both solutions are to cater for IE. For Firefox browser, try using "try{} and catch{}".

Tech post.. on Javascript..

It has been quite some time since I last post on tech stuffs. So today am going to input a valuable information on Javascript. A simple yet useful function for redirection.

To redirect a parent window through a popup window, following script can be used.

On basic validation for radio buttons, consider that the coded form name is 'aFormName' and the radio button name is 'radioBtnName', following code can be used to validate selected radio buttons

Sample on HTML
<input type="radio" value="1" name="radioBtnName">

Being childish and a cartoon mania..

My bed

Ok .. I wanna admit that I extremely love my current bed sheet and the condition of my bed at the moment. The colours especially, looks cool and nice and I can't deny that I love the cartoon prints on the bed sheet and pillows.

Flea Market at Cineleisure, The Curve

The Building

Stalls

Goodies

I went to the flea market at The Curve and Cineleisure and found it interesting as there are a lot of cute stuffs to offer. Products range from apparels, watches, earrings, bracelets, miniature clocks and many more.

The market is open on every Saturdays and Sundays. Prices of the items sold are mostly affordable and at a reasonable price.

I got myself a pair of self made "pom pom" earrings at RM3. No picture of it in this entry but I think it's cute :P

Obsessions

Fried Lam Yue Chicken

This is one of my favourite. It's fried marinated chicken with bean curd. I love the one sold in a chap fan (mixed rice) restaurant in Sea Park.

Heroes..

Save the cheerleader... Save the world..

That's all.

*edit*. Another great episode of Heroes, great to see them advancing the storyline. Just a couple episodes the shows momentum slowed down when it just showed filler story lines. Can't wait till they show everybody meeting each other and the way they'll react to one another.

New season of 24 is ehh, seems like they're just recycling the story lines. Not as exciting as the other seasons.
